In light of the new restrictions and guidance regarding group gatherings announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa at the weekend due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and in consultation with Elgin wine producers and our main sponsor, Nedbank, we have sadly taken the decision to cancel this year’s Elgin Cool Wine & Country Festival that was scheduled for Friday, 1 May and Saturday 2 May 2020.
Helmien Havenga, Nedbank Business Banking Area Client Manager for the Worcester Overberg region, says that Nedbank is fully supportive of the decision to cancel the event.
"Cancelling the event is the right thing to do under the circumstances, and we absolutely agree with the decision. As always, Nedbank is fully committed to the region as well as the agricultural sector, and it is our sincere hope that this pandemic will have as little impact as possible on all South Africans," she said.
We are staying positive and plans are already underway for an Elgin wine festival in November which will offer unique wine experiences, fabulous food, and entertainment at the wine estates in our valley. November is a wonderful time of year to visit our picturesque valley and we look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy our revised programme.
Visitors who have already bought tickets will be contacted by Quicket via email to notify them of the event cancellation, and to provide the relevant refund details.
Meanwhile we ask for your support and understanding as South Africa navigates this pandemic.
